Fiber optic cables follow standardized color codes defined by TIA-598-C/D to ensure consistent identification of cable types, individual fibers, and connectors.Outer Jacket Color CodesThe outer jacket color identifies the fiber type and mode, helping technicians quickly distinguish cables in installations:Yellow: Single-mode (OS1/OS2)Orange: Multimode (OM1/OM2)Aqua: Laser-optimized multimode (OM3/OM4)Emerald Green: OM5 wideband multimodeBlue: Polarization-maintaining fiberBlack: Outdoor cables (UV-resistant, regardless of fiber type) Custom jacket colors can also be used for in-building distribution or branding, but standard colors are critical for compliance and safety .Inner Fiber Color SequenceIndividual fibers within a multi-fiber cable are identified using a 12-color sequence:BlueOrangeGreenBrownSlate (Gray)WhiteRedBlackYellowVioletRose (Pink)Aqua For cables with more than 12 fibers, the sequence repeats with black stripes (except black fibers, which receive yellow stripes) to maintain unique identification.
