After laying the cable, a 30 cm protective layer of fine soil or sand should be backfilled gently, avoiding gravel, bricks, or hard soil blocks, and compacted manually to prevent damage . This ensures the cable is protected from mechanical stress and freezing conditions.Cable Handling and PlacementFiber optic cables are sensitive to excessive pulling force, sharp bends, and crushing, which can degrade transmission over time . When unspooling cable from reels, use a figure-eight configuration to prevent kinking or twisting . Avoid mechanized figure-eight eliminators, as they can damage the cable .
